Spain has just launched a digital nomad visa, as a growing number of people are considering becoming digital nomads, freed from the office by remote work and better tech tools. According to a 2022 study by consultancy MBO partners, 25 million Americans plan to become digital nomads within the next three years, with an additional 48 million saying maybe. The scheme allows digital workers to legally live and work in Spain for up to a year, as long as they meet a minimum monthly income requirement and make at least 80% of their income from companies outside Spain. The visa can be renewed up to five times, after which the individual would be eligible for permanent residency.
