However, we can safely say that it is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Indian Ocean to the south, the Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, and Arabian Sea to the west, and the Pacific Ocean to the east. Asia's highest point is Mount Everest, rising 29,028 feet above sea level. The lowest point is the Dead Sea which is 1,312 feet below sea level. Food, music, art, and religion play a major role in many Asian cultures. Travelers will find the variety of the aforementioned very different from each other and most will have traces of western influences due to colonization. Religion also plays a major part in Asian living. In fact, you'll find the birthplace of six major religions in world in Asia: Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Shinto, Taoism, and Confucianism.
Asia, the world's largest continent, covers 29.9% of the Earth's land area. Its 4 billion inhabitants account for 60% of the world's current total population, which also makes Asia the world's most populous continent. It is so large that it is divided into regions: Central Asia, East Asia, Middle East, Russia and the Caucasus, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. Traveling to Asia presents many options. From the ancient ruins, jungles, and pristine beaches of Southeast Asia to the megacities and modern malls of East Asia and the Middle East, every traveler will definitely find Asia a fascinating destination that is rich in cultural diversity, great people, and delicious cuisine. Defining the borders of Asia can be difficult as it is so large and diverse to quantify at simple levels.

Afghanistan

Picture
Afghanistan is probably not the safest country for traveling in Asia currently. Although it was very popular in the 1970s due to its rich culture and friendly people, things have changed over the past couple of decades. The widespread civil strife coupled with soul-searing poverty, bone-crushing infrastructure and shriek-inducing live mines can deter even the bravest of tourists from visiting the country, let alone touring its sites. For people still intent on visiting the landlocked country, an armed escort is a necessity, especially with the increase in attacks on foreign nationals.

Picture

 Armenia

Picture
Armenia, a former republic of the Soviet Union, is a landlocked country straddling Europe and Asia. Its rich and ancient culture coupled with magnificent nature vistas and friendly people make it one of the most pleasurable places to visit in the Caucasus.
Since it is the oldest nation to accept Christianity as its state religion, expect to see plenty of old monasteries attesting to that fact. Fortunately, the monotony of monasteries is broken by the spell of its natural beauty and its outgoing people. And because it is an emerging democracy, visitors are generally safe within the environs of Armenia.

Picture

 Bangladesh

Picture
A young and beautiful country like Bangladesh, with its admirable countryside and lush forests, will surely dazzle the modern tourists with unique cultures and attractive sites. Bangladesh is a rather distinct country when it comes to the everyday lifestyle and cuisine. But all the lovely attractive sites, foods, and traditions that are surely unlike ones you have never seen before will make your trip a memorable one. Bangladesh is ultimately a place of discovery; although it is not a known country, many tourists take an interest in it and come back with a unique experience and appreciation for this country.

Picture

Bhutan

Picture
Bhutan is known as the "Land of the Thunder Dragon." It is a place of extreme diversity, and it truly is a place like no other. It is probably one of the most expensive countries in the world to visit as an average tourist here will spend almost $200 per day. At the same time, buying cigarettes or alcohol is illegal in this fascinating country. The country is considered to be a place for the jet set; backpackers are a rare or non-existent phenomenon, while religious tourism has skyrocketed in the last few years

Picture

Brunei

Picture
With an impressive history, the small sultanate officially called “Brunei, Abode of Peace,” is definitely a place worth visiting. Picture
Previously known as Persia, Iran became an Islamic country in 1979 after the ruling monarchy was removed. A country that had experienced many clashes and skirmishes against many Islamic countries, Iran remained firm in its economy and maintained the reputation as one of the largest producers of oil in the world. Recent years are seeing more and more people traveling to this beautiful country. Almost all of its industries are improving; Iran created more jobs for citizens as well as overseas workers.

Picture

Laos

Picture

Laos is known as the “Land of a Million Elephants,” and it is also known largely because of its forested landscapes. This ancient country was under the rule of Thailand during most of the 19th century, but it eventually became a communist country.

Picture

Picture

It can be a paradise: the many tourists who have become repeat visitors to this awe-inspiring archipelago are a testament to that.

Picture

Picture
Mongolia is stereotypically known as a fighting country, as it once had the largest empire ever known to humanity and was led by one of the most well-known warrior leaders, Genghis Khan. These notions, however, are long gone. In fact, Mongolia is now a peaceful state inhabited by peaceful people with a simple style of living. Surprisingly, this country has a very low population density of half a person per square kilometer.

Picture

Myanmar

Picture
Formerly known as Burma, Myanmar is an ancient place that is home to a rich heritage. Myanmar has earned the nickname “the Golden Land” largely because of the country’s abundance of gold deposits. However, at least part of this appellation comes from the fact that Myanmar is dotted with pagodas, monasteries, and even accessories that also glisten. It is home to many varieties of animals: 300 species of reptiles and mammals, 100 species of birds, and 7,000 species of plant life.

Picture

Nepal

Picture
Nepal is home to the most famous and tallest mountain in the world — Mount Everest. Six of the other highest mountain peaks are also found here. Nepal is rich in bio-diversity, because of its unique geography and altitude, although it is one of the least developed countries and lines up on the list of economically poor countries. Picture

Sri Lanka

Picture
As the world gets smaller and is becoming increasingly globalized, many countries are becoming more and more exposed; while many countries become more popular and more visited by outsiders, some keep more to themselves and become even more mysterious to the rest. This is where Sri Lanka is categorized.

Picture

Taiwan

Picture
For many years, Taiwan has been called "Formosa”, which literally means “beautiful island”. Legend has it that this is what a Portuguese group of sailors said when they first saw the island for the very first time. How could they not when Taiwan has such lush, natural beauty surrounded by clear and pristine waters.
Today, the island not only gives its visitors a chance to explore the natural and pristine ecosystems, but also exciting and fun people. From the breath taking cliffs of Peghu to the lively city of Taipei, Taiwan has become one of the most diverse countries in Asia.

With its white beaches, lush tropical forests, and rich culture, Thailand is a country that almost has everything.
